Jacobean Starter Kit
This includes a wooden slate frame which will last for many years, along with other items e.g. needles and string, which will be used repeatedly. It also includes linen twill fabric.

Blackwork Starter Kit
All the specialist threads needed to work the module, but not the fabric £27.50
Certificate Goldwork Starter Kit
All the specialist threads and other materials needed to work the Certificate module, but not the fabric £54.
Other materials
Other materials can be sourced independently or through the RSN. C&D students get a 10% discount from the RSN Shop.
Equipment
Other than the items in the Starter Kits students will find it useful to have their own sewing kit: tape measure, pins, needles, good fine embroidery scissors etc. A notebook and pencil will also be useful. Some students find it helpful to have a magnifier and/or a light. Daylight lamps, which do not distort colours, are the best type to look for. Magnifiers come in a wide range of forms. The RSN online shop has a section for equipment and supplies.
