My first memory of threading a needle and ‘following the lines’ with running/back stitch were over a 6 week round trip sea voyage from New Zealand to the UK in the 1950’s. I was 4 years old and one of my favourite pastimes in the nursery on board ship was learning to sew.
From those first experiences and glued to watching my skilled mother sew, it’s been a history of non-stop stitching – clothes, curtains, homeware but embroidery was the essential technique missing in my repertoire.
Joining the RSN to complete Certificate and Diploma has opened up another world. Each module has held its own special interest with every single thread a joy to work, but deciding on a favourite is impossible!
The chance to learn first-hand from exceptional world class Tutors has been transformative and stimulating and I thank them for their patience, guidance and confidence building.
Fast forward 2020 and taking all my valuable knowledge, I am now in the lucky position of developing a small business designing embroidered personalised cushions – I especially love wedding cushions.
