Important Information and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We strongly recommend that you read this page carefully before booking for the RSN online International Summer School 2021.

Can I book with a US or other International credit card? What currency will I be charged in?

Yes, you can use a US or other International credit card but please note that all pricing is in UK Pounds Sterling (UK£). If you use a credit card to book then your card will be charged in UK£ which your card provider will translate to your local currency at their prevailing rates at the time of booking.

IMPORTANT — If using a non-UK credit-card we very strongly recommend that you inform your bank or card provider of your intention to book with us in advance of booking to ensure a smooth international transaction.

An alternative is to use Paypal — setting up a Paypal account is quick and easy (although we would recommend setting up any new account well in advance to be ready!)

Please note: processing your booking can take a little time (30-60 seconds). In the checkout, please only press the button to place your booking ONCE to avoid issues. Thank you.

Where is the RSN Online International Summer School being held?

Where ever you are! This year, due to the global pandemic, our summer school is online with classes, discussions and events being held live via Zoom.

The Summer School is being held online in July 2021. There are separate itineraries and sessions for three different International time zones:

  • North America: Monday 12 – Saturday 17 July (excluding Wednesday*) 3pm-9pm BST – choose either one 5-day class or a combination of a 2-day and a 3-day class. Please note that one 3-day class, Flying Flame Or Nué Dragon, is being repeated on Sun 18 – Tues 20 July, and one 2-day class, Winterthur Birds, is being repeated split across Sun 11 and Sun 18 July.
  • Australia, New Zealand and East Asia: Sunday 11- Saturday 17 July 7am-10.30am BST- choose a combination of a 4-day and a 3-day class

You can choose to follow the time zone that suits you best, wherever you are in the world. When booking you will be able to select which classes you wish to attend from those available for your chosen time zone.

What classes are available?

Please see our full class list here.

How are the sessions structured?

For UK/Europe, the class schedule is five consecutive days, Monday 19 July to Friday 23 July, 10am-4pm UK BST time. Each day is six hours, including one hour for a break. Attendees on this schedule can choose from either one 5-day class or a combination of one 2-day and one 3-day class from the list of classes available.

For North America, the class schedule is five teaching days but they are spread over six actual days, Monday 12 July to Saturday 17 July but excluding Wednesday. Classes will run from 3pm-9pm UK BST. Each day is six hours, including one hour for a break. Attendees on this schedule can choose from either one 5-day class or a combination of one 2-day and one 3-day class from the list of classes available. Please note that one 3-day class, Flying Flame Or Nué Dragon, is being repeated on Sun 18 – Tues 20 July, and one 2-day class, Winterthur Birds, is being repeated split across Sun 11 and Sun 18 July.

For Australia/NZ/Asia, the class schedule consists of seven teaching days, Sunday to Saturday, with each day being a single 3.5 hours session from 7am-10:30am UK BST. Attendees on this schedule can choose from a combination of one 4-day and one 3-day class from the list of classes available.

Please note: All classes are scheduled in UK local time. If you are outside of the UK please check your local time. To check and convert times please visit TimeAndDate.com.

There are extra classes scheduled at different times in the North America schedule – what are these?

Due to popular demand, one 3-day class (Flying Flame Or Nué Dragon)  is being repeated on Sun 18 – Tues 20 July, and one 2-day class (Winterthur Birds) is being repeated split across Sun 11 and Sun 18 July. These times are outside of the main North America schedule dates.

These classes are selectable on the booking page for the North America 2+3 Day class combination along with the other classes, but attendees should note the different class days. These classes are still scheduled at the same time of day, 3pm – 9pm UK BST.

Can I book classes across schedules/timezones?

The two-class combinations (i.e. 2+3 day for UK/Europe and North America; 4+3 day for Australia, New Zealand and East Asia) must be booked within a single timezone schedule. You cannot mix classes in a 2+3 or 4+3 combination across different timezones. You cannot, for example, book one class in a two-class combination in the UK/Europe schedule and the other in the North America schedule.

You can, however, make completely separate bookings in different timezone schedules if you wish to attend more classes than just one or two. For example, you could book a 2+3 day class combination (i.e. two classes) in the North America schedule AND a separate combination (i.e. two more classes) in the UK/Europe schedules, as each schedule runs on different days/times.

How are the classes being delivered?

We are using Zoom.  You will need a computer (Windows or Mac) or and iPad/Tablet (IOS or Android to take part. Whilst possible, we do not recommend joining classes on a phone due to the small screen size. For more details please see our Online instructions page.

Are all materials and kits included in the cost?

Yes, for almost all classes a kit with the required materials is included in the cost. This kit will be shipped to you in advance of the event. You will be informed of what other items you need to have at hand.

There are two classes for which a kit is not included: Design & Appliqué Stash Buster (5-day) and Developing Whitework (5-day). For these classes a list of required materials is included as a PDF in class description.

What other talks or events are included?

There will be an online reception event for each time zone group, plus additional live lecture talks during the week. For the UK/Europe schedule there will be three evening talks. For the North America schedule there will a day of talks on the Wednesday. For those following the Australia/New Zealand/East Asia schedule they will be able to follow the lectures at a time to suit them.

Can I reserve a class (or classes) and pay later?

No, it is not possible to reserve classes for later payment. Classes are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must be paid for at the time of booking. You place is confirmed once your booking and payment is complete.

What is the refund policy?

All bookings are non-refundable.

Do I need to be registered on the website to book?

Yes, you do.  There are options on the site checkout page to either register (a new account) or sign in (to an existing account) however we strongly recommend that you register and/or sign in to your account PRIOR to checkout.

Registration only requires your name, email address and for you to add a password. We do not require any further information for basic registration, although we hope you also consider signing up for our regular eNews newsletter.

I want to include a friend or another family member, can I book more than one place?

Yes, you can, but please note that if you book multiple places on one booking then all the places on that booking will be for the same schedule, session and classes. If you wish to attend different classes (or an entirely different time zone schedule) then separate bookings MUST be made.
