Introduction to Jacobean is suitable for anyone who has not stitched for years or would like to start. This traditional style of Jacobean Crewelwork embroidery was made popular in the 17th Century following the arrival of newly imported Indian chintzes with their exotic flora and fauna designs. You will work a range of stitches that can also be used in many other techniques of embroidery.
Working on traditional Linen Twill fabric using Appleton Crewel wools, Jacobean Crewelwork is an excellent introduction to enable you to go on to take further classes in the other embroidery techniques on offer at the school.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey KT8 9AU
