The Rose Arch design is suitable for all levels and combines various embroidery techniques to create a piece with 3D effect. The students will learn one of the ways of making an Appliqué. The Rose Arch design is suitable for all levels and combines various embroidery techniques.  The students will learn one of the ways of making an Appliqué, they will learn how do a couching technique similar to one used in Goldwork embroidery and will make a delicate raised embroidery needlelace. The students will also learn how to work with silk ribbon, and will practice the most important stitches in ribbon embroidery. More than ten different stitches and lots of different threads are used to create such a textured embroidery. The students will work with a variety of plain and hand-dyed cotton, silk, and wired threads of different thicknesses to create the raised embroidery. The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
