This introduction to 17th Century embroidery has been inspired by a 17th century wall hanging that is held in the V&A collection. Worked on Linen and stitched in crewel wool you will practice some traditional Crewelwork stitches such as Trellis, Stem, Chain and Blanket stitch.
The gold element is work in Gilt Passing and you will create some elaborate Elizabethan stitches such as Elizabethan Spiders Web, and Braid stitches.
This class is suitable for students who have some previous embroidery experience.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey KT8 9AU.
