A range of embroidery classes for all levels and techniques
« Day Classes
Join RSN Tutor, Jung Byun, to stitch this stunning Silk Shaded Peacock motif in an online class celebrating our partnership with the Aga Khan Centre, London and their new exhibition, Making Paradise. The exhibition features Jung's award-winning embroidered Peacock mirror which inspired the motif you will be stitching.
This class is suitable for all levels and will introduce you to hand embroidery techniques including Silk Shading and Goldwork. You will learn how to create long and short, split stitches in shaded colours as well as Goldwork stiches.
Your kit will be posted out to you and will contain all the materials needed to create your own Peacock design, including silk and gold threads, sequins, beads and a handheld ring frame. A step by step instruction booklet is also included. You will only need your own embroidery scissors.
During the class you will treated to a short presentation by the Curator of Making Paradise which is on display online and at the Aga Khan Centre Gallery from 29 April-30 September 2021. Making Paradise is a multi-sensory exhibition showcasing historical and contemporary artworks from around the world including work from the RSN, the Aga Khan Museum and the Royal Horticultural Society Lindley Library.
