Join RSN Tutor Nicola Jarvis for this one-day surface embroidery and embellishing project, worked on a colour-printed cotton satin background fabric.
The project techniques will include Couching, Long and Short Stitch, Shaded Satin Stitch, French Knots, Looped Colour Purls and Beading techniques with a variety of sequins and beads.
The illustration features a part-worked image of an embellished fabric surface. This is the kit which Nicola will use to run a true workshop project where students will be actively encouraged to use their own imaginations and various stitch experiences to embellish the Bullfinch design. Nicola will provide a range of stranded cottons, novelty threads, and metallic braids, beads and sequins, and students will be guided in working different stitches, colours and textures in selected areas of the design. Nicola is known for creating a joyful and productive classroom atmosphere where students’ individual ideas are supported and nurtured.
The class kit will include everything you need to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights if needed on the day.
The class will run at The Traditional Textiles School, 17c Vyse Street, The Jewellery Quarter, Hockley, Birmingham. B18 6LE
