This course is the perfect place to start if you are new to embroidery and are looking to have a go and start a new hobby. There will be basic information about needles, fabric and threads. You will learn how to put fabric in a frame, to start and stop stitching neatly, tips for threading needles and much more.
This charming design allows you to stitch half a dozen of the most commonly occurring stitches including Chain Stitch, Backstitch, Stem Stitch, French Knots, Whipped and Woven Stitches. These will give you a repertoire of stitches to use on future projects. Once you have been shown each stitch there will be time to practice so that you are comfortable with working each of them. By the end of the day, you should have finished your embroidery so a mini-hoop will be included in the kit for you to display your embroidery straightaway to family and friends showing how much you have achieved in a day. During the day, we will be able to offer advice about your next steps in embroidery.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
The class will run at The Traditional Textiles School, 17c Vyse Street, The Jewellery Quarter, Hockley, Birmingham. B18 6LE
