Appliqué and Surface stitched Butterfly inspired by the exquisite art works of Maria Sibylla Merian. This piece was originally designed to accompany the exhibition of Merian’s work at the Queen’s Gallery at Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh.

During this two day class you will be shown how to apply fabric to fabric, edging it with either Couching or a Surface Embroidery Stitch to cover any remaining raw edges.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.

The class will run at The Traditional Textiles School, 17c Vyse Street, The Jewellery Quarter, Hockley, Birmingham. B18 6LE
