Silk Shading is a traditional embroidery technique using thread colour and blending to produce realism to a subject.
During the course of the day, we will explore, with simple design ideas such as a leaf shape, effective shading and blending of colour. The ideas, which you will learn, can be used as a small picture, or panel, or be part of a portfolio, or
folder of ideas!
A basic materials pack will be provided including calico base fabric, needles, and a choice of stranded cotton colours, with more materials, threads, and equipment for sale. If you wish you may bring any stranded cottons or silk thread you would like to use.
You may like to bring your own basic sewing kit (scissors, needles, ruler, paper, pencil, etc) and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at 3 Fowlers Yard, Back Silver Street, Durham DH1 3RA
