Appliqué and Goldwork have a long history of being used together particularly in ceremonial robes to convey power and prestige. In the past prestigious textiles were reused to create new works in their own right sic The Penelope Hangings in Hardwick Hall. In this class you will work a small sampler showing how to appliqué silk fabric over padding and then complete with metal thread edges. You can choose to complete your piece and frame it or leave it as a working sampler, half finished, that can from part of your portfolio or box of ideas for future reference.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
