Working with a mixture of papers and fabrics, assorted media and stitch, you will be encouraged to produce a series of samples and abstract ‘textile’ assemblages. Techniques will include bonding, stiffening, layering and distressing along with surface stitches.
Samples can be based on a personal theme or wider reference material. If you would like to work with a specific theme (eg grids, landscapes, pattern, faces, flowers, circles….) you will need to bring along some sources of inspiration, such as photos, drawings, postcards, magazine cuttings etc

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at 3 Fowlers Yard, Back Silver Street, Durham DH1 3RA
