This week long class in traditional and contemporary Whitework taught by Tracy Franklin and Pippa Foulds, will cover various aspects of traditional techniques using white on white. Techniques will include Pulled Work, Drawn Thread Work, Broderie Anglaise, Shadow work, Surface Embroidery, and fabric manipulation. All techniques will be taught with traditional standards, and will give you the option to explore using a choice of fine white fabrics suitable for each technique, and a choice of threads available for purchase. Each technique will be explored to give you an understanding of how to continue further. You will learn each technique in turn, and on the final two days, you will create a linear sampler of ideas. All ideas learned and explored can be used as a portfolio of learning, which can be displayed in a folder, book, or box of ideas. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
