This course is for you if you are new to embroidery. There will be basic information about needles, fabric and threads. You will learn how to put fabric in a frame, starting and stopping stitching neatly, tips for threading needles etc. We will stitch half a dozen of the most commonly occurring stitches: Chain, Backstitch, Stem, French Knots, whipped and woven stitches etc. There will be time to practice each stitch. By the end of the day you should have finished your embroidery. A mini-hoop will be included in the kit so you can display your work straightaway. We can also offer advice about your next steps in embroidery.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at Exeter Community Centre, St David’s Hill, Exeter EX4 3RG
