Drawn Thread Work is a delicate technique that gives a lace like effect that appears to be inserted into solid fabric. This impression is produced by creating stitches on fabric where the warp and/or weft threads have been pulled out to form the foundation of a pattern.
During this introduction on day class you will learn how to draw away threads form the fabric and fasten the ends so that they are stable. You will then be shown how to Hemstitch the sides and Buttonhole the ends, both of which will secure the area ready for working the patterns. On the remaining threads or space you will learn how to create lace like patterns with bars.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at Grand Central Hotel, 99 Gordon Street, Glasgow G1 3SF
