Many students ask how to finish their embroideries so that they look the best they can. A beautifully mounted piece will ensure that the embroidery looks smooth and flat showing off all the hard work that has gone into producing the embroidery. This process will ensure that your piece of embroidery can be stored or framed securely and easily for many years to come.
This class will teach you in step-by-step stages how to neatly mount a piece of fabric onto board using conservation techniques such as hand stitching the piece in place. The materials used will be of conservation grade such as acid free mount card. These techniques will be demonstrated before you work on your own piece of fabric.
We suggest the finished piece of embroidery you bring a long to mount is no bigger than A4 (30cm x 20cm). There are several processes involved and you will not learn all of these processes in the day on a larger piece.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey KT8 9AU.
