Looking at the process of drawing your research into a design, so principles of composition, proportion, scale, repetition, harmony etc, trying thumbnails, creating a design.
Students will need some drawing experience along with some ideas to get the best out of the day.
Structure of the Day:
Login in using the link provided beforehand ready to start at 10am. We will have breaks around 11a.m. and for lunch between 1pm and 2pm.
If you want direct feedback on your work from Caroline, share your photos with her via WhatsApp or email during the day.
We will provide you with a good quality paperback A4 sketchbook.
Please gather whatever art materials you have. These are what we recommend:
• B and 2B graphite pencils.
• a tin of at least 12 good quality colour pencils.
• Water soluble pencils will give you more options, in which case add round and flat brushes and water pots.
For anyone who wants to learn or practise their skills of drawing from close observation, a useful skill for creating your own designs. This Day Class feeds into and builds on the Drawing and Design for Embroidery 3 day course. Some basic drawing skills will be useful as we will be doing some observational drawing.
