The class will take place over 6 consecutive weeks:
Wednesday 10, 17 and 24 February and 3, 10 and 17 of March

Bookings will close on Tuesday 9 February.

With many of us having had to put our holiday plans on hold for the time-being, we can at least design and create an Appliqué picture of our dream holiday.

Personally, Anita had hoped to go to Norway in early 2021 to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), and the wonderful light effects currently being witnessed in Australia are making her all the more keen to go!  You may have a particular place in mind that you will visit as soon as you are able, or maybe you’ve already been on that dream holiday and have a photo that you would like to recreate in fabric and stitch. Whatever your inspiration, whether it is to witness the Aurora Borealis, drive through the Swiss Alps or walk the Great Wall of China, your source photograph needs to contain good simple, but interesting shapes keeping in mind that this project will be worked on an 8″ embroidery hoop.

This course is aimed at the embroiderer who wants to design and create their own small simple project as well as learn some basic Appliqué techniques.  During this course of six 3 hour evening classes you will learn how to design your own project, then plan and stitch your design using your own personal stash of fabric and threads.

Throughout this series of Introductory to Appliqué classes you will have the opportunity to unleash your creativity and enjoy yourself working on your individual design. During each class you will be able to discuss your specific project requirements with the tutor. No kit is provided as Anita wants to encourage you to produce a truly individual piece of work using your own fabrics and threads. This is an online course so it will be up to each student to have their own material and equipment ready to hand during class.  Therefore, please take a moment to read through each material and equipment list below to make sure you have access to all items. If you are unable to get any of the items listed, please make Anita aware of this when you have your one to one session during Class 1 so we can work with what you do have access to.

The stitches and techniques used for this Design & Appliqué Stash Buster Project: ‘My Dream Holiday - I Wish I Was There’ will be similar to the previous project ‘View through my Window’, however for this course there will be a PDF sent to you covering basic stitches and techniques.
