Goldwork has its history rooted in military, ecclesiastical and royal regalia, but it also creates the most beautiful and dramatic embroideries. Using a wide variety of metal threads, it can be combined with other techniques to produce luxurious effects.
This 6 week course offers a unique opportunity to take an in-depth look at this beautiful embroidery technique, taking it forward through experimentation under the guidance of RSN Tutors Tracy Franklin and Pippa Foulds.
Suitable only for embroiderers who have studied traditional Goldwork techniques and who wish to take their practice further and increase their
understanding of how to use these materials
These weekly sessions will allow you to look at traditional Goldwork techniques and how they can be challenged and explored in experimental ways to give a contemporary feel to your work.
There is no kit for this class and this represents an ideal opportunity to use your own stash of metal threads. Students will be advised about the materials they need to gather in advance.
Your Zoom link will be sent a minimum of 48 hours prior to the class and will be sent to the email address you booked the class with. If you do not receive it, check your junk mail to see if it is there and if you still do not have it then please email [email protected]
