The Traditional hidden meaning of nine roses is a ‘symbol of eternal love’.  Another Rose meaning is ‘secrecy and confidentiality’, and in the Middle Ages roses were hung from the ceilings of meeting rooms where it was understood that everyone under the roses was sworn to secrecy.

This class delivers a more modern take on embroidered roses, and the design was inspired by the Tutors love of combining different Raised Embroidery stitches, along with the simple joy of using a variegated thread!!

Students will be taught to stitch a variety of Raised Embroidery stitches using stranded cotton, then go on to learn how to apply these stitches to achieve different effects as well as pick up a few embroidery tips along the way. The design uses stranded cotton and ribbon on a cotton twill fabric, and measures approximately 7.5cm x 12cm and is worked on a 6in hoop.  Stitches include Stem Stitch, Woven Wheel, Needlewoven Picot, Detached Chain Stitch, and Bullion Knots.

There will be plenty of opportunity during the class to ask the Tutor questions and in advance of the class all preparation information will be emailed to you along with an invitation to join the class on the day.

Your Zoom link will be sent a minimum of 48 hours prior to the class and will be sent to the email address you booked the class with. If you do not receive it, check your junk mail to see if it is there and if you still do not have it then please email [email protected]
