Silk Shading is a traditional form of hand embroidery that lends itself particularly well to botanical studies.
In this class we shall be covering everything from choosing a suitable image, how to identify the appropriate colours of stranded cotton and how to create all preparatory drawings. Following on from the preparatory stages this course will cover basic Silk Shading samples including how to change angle, optical blending of threads, the correct use of Split Stitch and how to create turnovers.
Once all of these elements have been mastered you will have all of the tools to create your own botanical study in Silk Shading.
There will be plenty of opportunity during the class to ask the Tutor questions.
All the stitches covered in this class and more can be found on the RSN Stitchbank.
