The class takes place from 3.30pm-6pm on the following dates:

Saturday 19 & 26 February 2022

For the Rest of the World bookings will close on Friday 4 February 2022 to allow for the kit to be posted out in time for the class.

For UK and Europe bookings will close on Friday 11 February 2022 to allow for the kit to be posted out in time for the class.

Please note that the cost includes the necessary kit and tracked postage.

According to the Victorian Language of Flowers, pansies signify ‘kind thoughts’ and what could be more appropriate a message as the Royal School of Needlework celebrates its 150th birthday? A wreath of pansies in shades of RSN purple, which with the accompanying colours of white and green also brings to mind traditional associations of female emancipation and suffrage.

The design measures 17.5 cm in diameter and options are available to work the design either with or without the commemorative writing. The base fabric is grey linen with embroidery completed in a range of Au Ver A Soie silk threads.

The class is most suitable for those with some previous experience of Silk Shading, but the Tutor will guide you through the technique, showing you how to work through a pansy flower, bud and leaf, including how to add the Bullion Knot details and writing.

All materials will be supplied; fabric with the printed design, threads, needles, and a full instruction book with step by step pictures.

There will be plenty of opportunity during the class to ask the Tutor questions and in advance of the class all preparation information will be emailed to you along with an invitation to join the class on the day.

All the stitches covered in this class and more can be found on the RSN Stitchbank.

The class kit will be posted out to you. The kit includes all the materials you require to complete the project. It would be useful to have a pencil and paper in case you wish to take extra notes and a pair of embroidery scissors  and a 8"hoop will be needed.
