A two day class, inspired by a brooch design by Catalonian Art Nouveau jewellery designer Lluis Masriera (1872 -1958), this pretty design provides a gentle introduction to the techniques of both Silk Shading and Goldwork. Coloured stranded cottons are blended within ‘cells’ of couched pearl purl to recreate the famous ‘plique a jour’ enameling so popular in jewellery of this time period. Suitable for beginners to Goldwork and Silk Shading the techniques this course covers include: basic Silk Shading and colour blending, padding and chipping, applying spangles and couching both pearl purl and Japanese thread.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at Arnold House, Elsee Road, Rugby, Warwickshire CV21 3BA
