Inspired by a tawny owl and squirrels that frequent my mighty oak tree, these compelling creatures are ornamented with motifs from eighteenth-century French ceramics held in the collection of Hillwood Museum and Gardens, Washington DC. They are luxurious crewelwork projects that feature a range of crewel work stitches and embellishment techniques, using Appletons crewel wool, beads and sequins on colour-printed cotton furnishing fabric.
You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at The Traditional Textiles School, 17c Vyse Street, The Jewellery Quarter, Hockley, Birmingham. B18 6LE
