Join RSN Tutor Helen McCook online as she introduces you to all the major principles of Blackwork embroidery. Blackwork is a traditional form of counted embroidery worked on linen in black thread. Historically Blackwork is associated with the Tudor period but its history stretches back further and has been reinvented on multiple occasions. Modern Blackwork is now more associated with detailed shaded work which can create a photorealistic feel when worked properly.
The RSN has developed this approach through many years of Apprentices and is continued in the current Future Tutors programme..
The course is aimed at the beginner embroiderer and runs over three terms (of ten weeks each).
