This Workshop focuses on Appliqué and is open to one adult and child (8+) or two children (8+) accompanied by a non-stitching parent or guardian. Suitable for all levels, this class is inspired by a 1950s apron from our current exhibition, The Embroidered Home.
During the class our tutors will demonstrate four key hand embroidery stitches: Buttonhole Stitch; French Knots; Stem Stitch and Couching and you will be introduced to the fundamentals of Appliqué. You will also have a chance to view the apron during the morning.
The cost includes two kits. The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10.30am-1pm at Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey KT8 9AU. Please meet outside the main moat entrance to the Palace 20 minutes before the start of your class at 10.10am. The event will last for 2.5 hours. We are unable to offer refunds or transfers on this event.
