This developing Blackwork class is inspired by a unique gravestone found in Highgate Cemetery in London.
Designed with the aim of exploring the fundamental elements of Blackwork. You will learn how to grade shading through a variety of different thread thicknesses, deepen shading through adding extra stitches along with exploring how to break up patterns to create soft highlights.
There are several Blackwork patterns worked within this design, including patterns blending across the background of the design. Once all of the Blackwork has been stitched there is the option of working a Margaret Atwood quote; “in the end we’ll all become stories”
