RSN on the Airwaves!

5th June, 2020

Put the kettle on, put your feet up and have a good listen to a few RSN features on the airwaves coming your way next week!

Firstly, on Wednesday 10 June at 7pm BST, RSN Chief Executive, Dr Susan Kay-Williams, will be live on Instagram to answer your questions about this special organisation, its Archive, Collection and history. Susan will also give you some inside gossip on things she has learned whilst working on the story of the RSN for our 150th anniversary in 2022!

This Instagram Live event is free to join and we have chosen a time which makes the Live session accessible to a maximum number of our followers, including those of you in North America. There’s an opportunity for you to put your questions to Susan in advance by sending them to us here: [email protected]

The following day, Thursday 11 June, Susan will be ‘in discussion’ on the recently launched Sew What? Podcast. ‘Sew What?’ is a new podcast about historic needlework and the girls and women who stitched. It is hosted by Isabella Rosner, a current PhD student at King’s College London, and a specialist in the study of early modern needlework and schoolgirl samplers.

Isabella’s first interview will be with Susan and the two will discuss the past and present of the RSN’s Collection and Courses, as well as the role of needlework in today’s world.

You can follow the Sew What? Podcast on their Instagram as well as follow Isabella’s ‘Embroidery Through History’ page, which explores historic embroidery from all over the world.

We hope you have also had a chance to catch up on the RSN’s recent FiberTalk Podcast interview and, if not, then you can do so on YouTube.

Happy listening!
