A collection of stunning work by our degree students

Hand embroided textile installation works by Rachel Thorpe
Based on the microscopic world Rachel Thorpes hand embroided pieces

Rachel Thorpe

Rachel Thorpe uses her technical knowledge and skills in hand embroidery to create innovative and contemporary textile installation works.

A creative practice which is influenced by the desire to understand her environment through making; Rachel explores the contemporary application of traditional hand embroidery techniques.

The microscopic world coexists beside our own. It is undetectable to the naked eye and often represented as the invisible enemy, yet the majority of organisms are benign. By presenting the images as both beautiful and sinister, Rachel seeks to question our relationship with the natural world.
