Korean Degree Project

27th January, 2019

Our Second Year Degree Students recently visited the Kingston School of Art in preparation for a new Korean fashion project.  In the last few years, many Korean fashion designers have been at Paris, Milan, New York and London Fashion Weeks. HANBOK is a traditional and formal Korean attire worn for special occasions such as festivals and weddings.

The new project gives our students the opportunity to explore the emblematic South Korean costume and its cultural concept. Students from both the RSN Degree Course and Kingston School of Art will work with HANBOK patterns to produce one or more contemporary garments which creatively reinterpret elements of the traditional dress.  Some of the best pieces will be exhibited in Kingston in March and Seoul in October.

We are excited to see what our students will create and look forward to sharing their designs with you soon.

Thank you to Korean Advanced Centre, Korean British Cultural Exchange and Kingston Council who are supporting this project.
