Take a Break

12th June, 2020

Take the pressure off yourself, have a lovely cuppa and take a step back. Make your tea break a mindful experience and concentrate on the making and drinking whilst losing yourself in the magical imagery of the Crewelwork Panel design on our lovely bone china mug.

The original piece is part of the RSN Collection and features a beautiful Golden Pheasant. Golden Pheasants, also known as the Chinese or Rainbow Pheasant, were introduced to Great Britain in the late 19th Century. Today, they are a rare sight in the wild, but there are still small populations in forestay plantations and dense woodland in Norfolk and Dorset…although best to get up early when they may be seen in clearings.

We have a range of items in the RSN Shop which features the Golden Pheasant from the Crewelwork Panel, including a thimble, trinket box, ceramic cork-backed Coaster and a pure cotton, printed Tea Towel which clearly shows the stitch detail…you’ll need one of these to dry up after you wash your mug!

If you are inspired to create your own Crewelwork Panel then do have a look at ‘Crewelwork’ by Tracy A Franklin and the ‘RSN Essential Stitch Guide to Crewelwork’ by Jacqui McDonald.  Both books explain how versatile Crewelwork, sometimes known as Jacobean Crewelwork, is, alongside inspirational and beautiful pictures.
