C&D Classes re-open in Bristol & Glasgow

1st September, 2020

We are delighted to be re-opening our Certificate & Diploma classes in Bristol and Glasgow, in addition to our Hampton Court Palace timetable.  Classes for September and October across all three venues are available to book now on Bookeo.

We have been running our C&D Classrooms at Hampton Court Palace since July.  Working closely with Historic Royal Palaces, we have introduced new procedures to ensure a safe environment for students, Tutors and staff.  Each of our venues has its own specific response to restrictions which we have combined with our own generic processes.

To ensure social distancing, we will continue with a limited number of six students per day in our Certificate & Diploma classes at Hampton Court Palace. Spaces book up quickly, so if your desired day is fully booked, please add your name to the waiting list as we are able open a second classroom if required.

If you are a newly registered Certificate Student, there are several Jacobean Crewelwork Starter days at Hampton Court Palace on 7, 10 and 12 September. This day will be the first of the eight-day module and enables Jacobean Crewelwork students to design and plan together.  We have found this is a great way for students to strike up friendships, some of which have lasted the whole of the Certificate course and beyond!

Until we can operate fully, we are currently only working with a small pool of RSN Tutors.  Several Tutors remain on Furlough which means that students may find that they are not able to have their regular Tutor for the time being.

Ending on an exciting note, we have been working in the background testing the online delivery of C&D, tackling such issues as time zones; difficult and complicated techniques; and importantly, the format that the course should take. It has certainly been a challenge and we have to thank the Tutors who have worked so hard to maintain our standard of teaching with innovative ideas. We have used a combination of Zoom and WhatsApp, with images winging their way around the world.   Interesting to note that images can be vastly enlarged ensuring mistakes or missing stitches can be spotted even from thousands of miles away! (But don’t worry, unpicking is part of the learning and we will help you to correct them!)

We will continue to test and hope to update you soon.
