Tuition

Tuition is by RSN trained tutors.  The tutor to student ratio is 1:6.

Previous Experience

The C&D programme is a substantial commitment.   If you have not stitched before we recommend trying a Day Class first.  We have introductory classes on all the Certificate techniques and many others.

Time frames and flexibility

Each Certificate and Diploma module is a minimum of eight days (40 hours equivalent).   Additional days can be purchased.  For every day of tuition, we recommend allowing for one day of homework.  We understand the need to fit tuition around other demands such as family and work.  We allow five years for completion of the Certificate and the same for the Diploma.  The average time taken is two years.

Language

Tuition is in English, other than lessons taking place in Japan.

Onsite tuition

Onsite we teach at Hampton Court Palace in south-west London, Bristol, Rugby, Durham and Glasgow, and in Japan, America and Australia. We offer:

  • Individual days which can be booked one at a time, allowing students to work at the pace of their choosing.
  • Intensive courses of eight days of tuition over two weeks, enough time to complete one module. Intensive courses are available at Hampton Court, Durham, Glasgow and in America and Australia. Link to Intensive details page

Online tuition

We offer Online tuition in three time zones which broadly equate to UK/Europe, North/South America and Australia/New Zealand/SE Asia.

The first Certificate Online module, Jacobean Crewelwork, is offered as a set course with pre-determined dates and times.  There is one course in each of the three time zones each term.  We manage a waiting list for places on this course.

Other modules can be taken either as individual days which can be booked one at a time in the same way as Onsite tuition (see above).   Each class consists of a range of students working on different techniques.  Alternatively, the other modules can be taken as single technique courses i.e. a course with pre-determined dates and times, with the same group of students working on one technique.

NB Jacobean Crewelwork can only be taken either an Onsite or an Online option, not as a mix.  Other modules can be taken as a mixture, by starting with two or three days Onsite followed by Online days.
