Loving Letter Case – ‘The 18th Century Treasure from the RSN Collection’

 

Join us for an educational and creative experience in the world of 18th century needlework! In this class, you will have the opportunity to learn and practice traditional techniques used to decorate purses, wallets, and letter cases.

These personal items, once practical for holding important papers and letters, also served as decorative items and symbols of the owner’s status and taste.
Under the guidance of our experienced tutor, you will create unique embroidery based on the 18th century letter case from the Royal School of Needlework Collection. The design features beautiful silk roses, cornflowers, and a dove, and is thought be used for keeping love letters.

During the class you will learn how to work with silk and gold threads using historical techniques. Your kit includes everything you need to finish the embroidery.

Whether you are an experienced embroiderer or a beginner, this class is an excellent opportunity to enhance your skills and craft a beautiful and meaningful keepsake!
