‘Sew’ it with Flowers this Mother’s Day & Florimania event at Hampton Court Palace

14th February, 2019

Learn a new skill with your mum and spend quality time together for Mother’s Day. We are running two embroidery classes over the Mother’s Day weekend at Hampton Court Palace.

If you are new to hand embroidery, the Introduction to Ribbonwork: Spring Flowers design is the perfect class and takes place on Sunday 31 March. Students will learn ribbon embroidery tips and tricks and practice a variety of stitches including straight and twisted stitch, classic ribbon stitch, folded stitch and French Knots.

If you would rather to make more of a weekend of it, then the two day Crewelwork and Goldwork class on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 March might suit you better. This class combines Crewelwork stitches with the richness of Goldwork to create a stunning medieval flower, inspired by an original drawing from the RSN’s unique Textile Collection.

The same Mother’s Day weekend (29-31 March) some of the historic embroidery pieces from the RSN’s Textile Collection will be on display at Hampton Court Palace’s Florimania extravaganza. This year’s theme is ‘Embroidered Treasures of Hampton Court Palace’. Entrance to the exhibition is included in the ticket entry price to Hampton Court Palace.
