Kate Cross

Kate Cross completed her RSN Apprenticeship with distinction in 2009. Prior to this she studied for a degree in Art. She teaches at the RSN on both our Day Classes and the Certificate & Diploma Course,  in the UK and internationally. Kate was involved with the Future Tutors Course at the RSN. Kate is also author of the highly successful RSN Technique Book in Applique which was published in 2016.

Kate has worked on some prestigious commissions as part of the RSN team of professional embroiderers. Projects have included working on the Princess of Wales wedding Dress and the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Kate runs her own thriving business c in Godalming, Surrey, and works both public and private commissions and teaches. She works regularly for fashion houses, brand names have included Hermes, Dior and Stella McCartney.

Throughout her 15 years in the embroidery industry Kate has built up a huge repertoire of embroidery techniques and knowledge. She has a talent for clearly explaining and encouraging her students to have a thirst for knowledge and desire to learn to match her own. Recently, she has created projects using techniques such as monogramming and lettering for embroidery, Chikankari, Hedebo, Carrickmacross, and many more traditional, cherished embroidery techniques. Kate believes that excellent teaching is fundamental to retaining the heritage and skill level in embroidery and as part of this ethic she completed a PGCE in Education prior to embarking on her teaching career.
