Feel part of something bigger, meet with new people onsite or online, have an enjoyable few days to do something you love and join us for the RSN International Summer School 2024.

Lexington

There will be three talks on the Monday, Tuesday and Friday of each week and these will be open to anyone who has booked a class even if their class is not running on that day. The talks will be at 5pm.

Tuesday

On Tuesday see some of the recent donations to the RSN Collection. This is a special opportunity to see some items up close. We know we now have the digitisation programme but there is nothing quite like seeing items directly. Susan will bring a number of recent donations, along with their stories – or lack of them. Some items are sent to us with no information while others have detailed stories. Susan will also talk about some of the challenges of the RSN Collection but also some of the opportunities and links we have made.

Thursday

On Thursday we will revisit the 2023 Royal Coronation and with some of the tutors who worked on the project, take you through aspects of the nine pieces we conserved or created for this very special event and also put it into the context of the five coronations on which the RSN has worked, revisiting some of our past work from 1953, 1937 and even 1902.

Friday

On Friday Chief Executive Dr Susan Kay-Williams will talk about her 17 years at the RSN with highlights of her time in the post, from the launch of the Degree programme to the work on the wedding dress of the now Princess of Wales and from the Tutor programme to pivoting during the pandemic to teaching online as well as some of the challenges. There will be many anecdotes from behind the scenes of the RSN.

Versions of Recent donations to the RSN and 17 years at the RSN will be recorded and will be available to all ISS attendees from August.
