In this Coronation Year we are delighted to stage a Special Display featuring objects from the Five Coronations of the 20th and 21st Centuries from the Royal School of Needlework’s archives.
The Royal School of Needlework & Five Coronations 1902 – 2023
By popular demand, we have extended this exhibition until May 2024
This special display features archive objects from the RSN’s experience of working on five coronations including images of the RSN team at work in 1902, 1937, 1953 and 2023.
Given that the coronation items themselves are now the property of their Royal owners and the Royal Collection Trust, this exhibition focuses on our role in the events from behind the scenes. The display includes designs, (some not used), to interesting left overs and souvenirs from fabrics to needle cleaners.
Also included will be images from past coronation exhibitions in which the RSN was involved. From the most recent coronation, there will be images of work in progress and our team of expert embroiderers as well as sampling for the exquisite objects we worked on. This is a fascinating glimpse into how many of the amazing items seen on the day were created.
Please join us for a Talk & Private View of this special coronation display which will take place in one of our embroidery studios at Hampton Court Palace and include an opportunity to visit our beautiful on-site RSN Shop afterwards.
You do not need a ticket for Hampton Court Place to attend our events, but please note that if you also wish to visit HCP, tickets must be purchased separately.
All booking options (below) are limited to a maximum of 15 guests.
