The Royal School of Needlework is thrilled to be hosting its first ever conference, Stitched Together: Needlework Research and Making, at Hampton Court Palace on Thursday 21 August and Friday 22 August, supported by the Pasold Research Fund. Please join us!

Though needlework has long been the subject of academic, socioeconomic, and object-centric study, there have been very few opportunities for those who create needlework and those who research needlework to collaborate and learn from one another.
This conference will bridge the gap between visual and historiographical analysis and knowledge of the historical, socioeconomic, and literary contexts of needlework with embodied knowledge of materials, techniques, and artistic choices. ‘Stitched Together’ is a meeting place for anyone working on topics related to historical embroidery to present their work and research.
Please note that in-person spaces at Hampton Court Palace are limited. However, this conference will be live-streamed so you can attend from anywhere in the world.Â
KATE SEKULES MENDING WORKSHOP (THURS 21 AUG ONLY)
Kate Sekules will be running a visible mending workshop after the conference formally ends on day 1. Those who sign up will need to bring in a garment or textile they want to mend.Â
