Congratulations to RSN Degree Graduate 2018 Lizzie Lowe who won ‘The Worshipful Company of Broderers Award’ for ‘The Best Use of Hand Embroidery Techniques’ at Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery, in London. Lizzie’s work entitled ‘Crossing Borders’ is an embroidered bespoke tailored menswear collection using Goldwork and Crewelwork techniques. It is designed for evening wear and includes a three-piece tailored suit, loafers, a collection of socks, ties, cufflinks and tie bars. The fabric used is MacNeil tartan which represents her Scottish heritage from her mother’s family when they crossed the borders to live in England.
In September, Lizzie started her two year MA in Menswear at the University of Westminster. In her first project she used traditional Whitework techniques learnt at the RSN to produce a capsule collection based on formal military uniforms.
Over the summer, Lizzie collaborated with fashion designer Michael Halpern to produce the final look of his Spring/Summer 2019 Collection presented at London Fashion Week in September where Lizzie worked backstage to dress the models during the event.
The RSN wishes Lizzie every success in her Masters and looks forward to her one day producing her own Collection!
