Meet Kenix Lai, who shares with us her Online Certificate learning experience from Hong Kong.

“I am Kenix, an embroidery enthusiast from Hong Kong. I have loved doing most kinds of crafts since I was a kid. I started practicing hand embroidery from a random hobby class in 2015, and then fully began my hand embroidery journey. Over the years, I joined different classes, read a lot of books, and watched YouTube videos to learn hand embroidery skills.

My RSN journey officially started in summer 2021, with the first RSN International Summer School, my only thanks to COVID! I wanted to develop my hand embroidery techniques in the most formal, traditional way. That’s why I chose the RSN.

After the International Summer School, I found out about the RSN C&D Course on a Virtual Open Day and decided to start in early 2022. I wanted to gain recognition from an international organisation for hand embroidery. The RSN C&D Online Course perfectly answers all my needs without physical boundaries.

The RSN C&D experience is amazing and incredible. The set schedule allows continuous and progressive learning in hand embroidery and provides enough time for working on my own piece between lessons. The interactions with the Tutor and classmates have broadened my perspective and deepened my knowledge of embroidery. Because of the programme, I have made new RSN friends who share the same interest in the virtual classrooms and on social networks.

I am glad to have buddies when I’m trying something new. I keep posting on social media and sharing about my joyful RSN life and how the RSN adds an elegant and classic attitude to my busy modern life.

When you are in class with people who share the same passion, all anxiety, frustration, and uncertainty will gradually fade. The course is deemed to be challenging, yet manageable. The Tutor and classmates are super friendly, supportive, and always willing to help. I would recommend trying the RSN International Summer School or taking a Day & Evening class first to feel the RSN momentum, and then look at joining the RSN C&D Course.”

I am looking forward to the Appliqué technique on the Diploma Course, a very different technique with fabric. I have made a promise to myself that I will fly over to the UK to visit Hampton Court Palace as part of my RSN studies. Hope to see you there soon!”
