DMC103 Goldwork Wyvern: Divine & Mythical Creatures Experience Class
View map
£180.00
Join us for Goldwork Class and a private highlights tour of our exhibition, Divine and Mythical Creatures from the RSN Collection & Archive with our Curator of Textiles, Dr Isabella Rosner.
During the day you will create this stunning design of a Wyvern (a mythical creature similar to a dragon). Wyverns are featured in our display as well in historical artworks including a stained glass window at Canterbury Cathedral.
Under RSN Tutor Helen Steven's expert guidance, you will learn a wide variety of techniques to complete the motif including Couching, Long and Short, Satin Stitch, Stem Stitch Split Stitch, Fly Stitch and Or Nué.
Some experience of embroidery would be useful but all aspects of the motif will be covered during the class and a full instruction booklet will be included in the kit to enable you to complete the embroidery at home.
The class cost includes all materials and necessary equipment and your kit comprises everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and magnifiers if you need them, but you will be able to borrow ring frames and scissors on the day.
Please meet us at Hampton Court Palace Reception/Security at 9.40am on the day. You will have a short coffee break in the morning and please bring a packed lunch and any drinks you may require during the day.
The exhibition showcases fantastical pieces from Royal School of Needlework’s Collection & Archive with a focus on imaginary earthly and celestial beings, both human and animal. Objects on display span multiple centuries and continents, illustrating everything from wyverns and dragons to heraldic beasts and ancient gods and goddesses.
