Description
The design is based on a motif from the corner of f. 30v in the 8th-century Vespasian Psalter, now in the British Library. The embroidery is worked in traditional early medieval stitches – split stitch, satin stitch and laid and couched (Bayeux stitch) fillings in silk thread with laid and couched gold work fillings. All the outlines are worked in stem stitch in the brown silk.
The kit includes handwoven silk ground fabric, reeled silk threads, gold passing thread, a tulip needle, access to full colour step by step instruction booklet.
You will need scissors, a Mellor, tweezers, a 8inch/20cm hoop and a blue pencil
