Join us for an RSN Experience class in partnership with Royal Collection Trust to embroider a stunning beadwork design inspired by Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style at The King’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace from 10 April-18 October 2026.

Your day will begin with a highlights tour of the show and a focus on Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding dress with Surveyor of The King’s Works of Art and exhibition curator, Caroline de Guitaut. Designed by Sir Norman Hartnell and unveiled to the world in 1947, the gown remains an enduring symbol of post‑war optimism, craftsmanship, and regal elegance.

During the day you will learn how to stitch this stunning motif highlighting many of the beadwork and embroidery techniques visible on the wedding dress. Hand embroidery techniques include:

• Beading over satin and tulle
• String padding + beading over
• Beaded stem stitch in the round
• Cut fabric and tulle insert
• Silk ribbon wrapped beads

This class is suitable for all levels. All the stitches and techniques will be covered by the tuition and your kit materials will enable you to complete the design after the class. Please bring a pencil and paper if you’d like to make notes. You may also like to bring your own battery operated lights or magnifiers but please do not bring scissors as you will be able to borrow ring frames and scissors on the day.

Security:

On the day of your class please arrive at The King’s Gallery by 09.45am to be met by Royal Collection Trust and RSN staff.

On arrival, you and your belongings will be subject to airport-style security checks. Some items, such as large bags or backpacks, will have to be checked in and reclaimed at the end of the visit. Guidance regarding prohibited items can be found on the Royal Collection Trust website HERE

Refreshments:

Tea/coffee will be provided during a short break in the morning. Please bring a packed lunch and any drinks you may require during the day. We will have a lunch break at approximately 1pm-1.30pm.
