RSN Studio: Selwyn Image Tote Bag Embroidery Kit

£35.00

The RSN Collection is particularly rich in designs commissioned
by the RSN from the leaders of the Arts and Crafts and Aesthetic
Movements. Selwyn Image (1849–1930) was a leading British artist, designer, writer and poet with close links to the Arts and Crafts Movement. After an early career in the church he studied with the architect and designer A. H. Mackmurdo and went on to produce many designs for stained glass and furniture as well as embroidery. From 1910 to 1916 he was
the Slade Professor of Fine Art at Oxford. The design featured in this
kit is one of a number that Image created for the Royal School of Art
Needlework.

This lovely kit is suitable for beginners and contains the Tote Bag and printed design which forms the pocket, along with the needles, thread and instruction booklet. The Embroidery is worked in Stem Stitch and French Knots and uses Slip and Running Stitches to attach the embroidery to the bag forming the pocket. We recommend an 8"/20cms hoop to work the embroidery and embroidery scissors. The kit is supplied packaged in a simple pillow box.
