Join RSN Curators Isabella Rosner and Vicky Bevan on a two-day study course focusing on the history of British embroidery. This exciting course will include visits to the Victoria and Albert Museum, Fashion and Textile Museum, and a tour of the RSN Embroidery Studio and Hampton Court Palace Textile Conservation Studio . Participants will get up close and personal with centuries of stitching, guided by esteemed experts.
Day1
10:00-10:30 – coffee in V&A
10:30-12:30 — two tours, IR about 17th- and 18th-century embroidery and VB about Arts and Crafts textile design
12:30-1:00 – solo time to wander V&A
1:00-2:15 – lunch near V&A
2:15-3:00 – travel to Fashion and Textile Museum
3:00-4:30 – tour of Textiles: The Art of Mankind, with Mary Schoeser
Day 2:
9:30-10:00 – coffee and tea in Degree Library
10:00-11:00 – talk about collection and archive
11:00-12:00 – look at objects from collection and archive (designs and 17th-18th-century pieces)
12:00-1:00 - lunch
1:00-2:00 – textile-centric tour of Hampton Court
2:00-2:30 – coffee and tea break
2:30-3:30 – visit to RSN Studio
3:30-4:30 – Talk from Serena Dyer
4:30-5:30 – drinks reception with guests
