Summer Wreath is a colourful design by RSN Tutor Sarah Smith.  Poppies, wheat and cornflowers wind in a gentle circle and are completed in a range of well-known and more unusual stitches in pure silk Soie d’Alger from Au Ver a Soie on the highest quality pale grey Belgian linen. This project is aimed at stitchers who already have some experience of silk shading, or have perhaps already completed one of the other Wreath kits. It includes detailed instructions and photographs to take you through each stitch in clear, easy stages.

The stitches covered are: Starting and Finishing your thread; Split Stitch; French Knots; Wheat Ear Stitch; Stem Stitch; Detached Chain Stitch; Silk Shading; Padded Satin Stitch; Pistil Stitch and Trellis Stitch. There is also a clearly annotated Stitch Plan and a corresponding Colour Plan.

It is worked in a bright, contrasting colour palette of reds, blues, golds and greens which effectively conjure up a Summer cornfield. It would make a lovely picture to frame, or work equally well transferred to household linens such as tablecloths or napkins. It all comes beautifully packaged in a traditional, high quality, gusseted ‘string and washer’ envelope which can be closed securely to keep all your bits and pieces safe as you work the project.

Each kit contains: Detailed, 16 page full-colour instruction leaflet, a ‘Thread Palette’ of all the threads required to complete the project, clearly separated, labelled and cut into prepared lengths'; 36cm x 36 cm square of highest quality Belgian linen with the design printed on; John James Needles (x2 size 12 Embroidery, x1 size 10 Embroidery and x1 size 7 Embroidery).

Finished size of the embroidery is approximately 15 cm in diameter.
