With Nicola Jarvis. Wednesday 11 November, 7pm UK

Based in rural Warwickshire, Nicola combines drawing, painting and stitch to make her artworks. She has been active in the embroidery industry for 35 years, is a senior tutor and fellow of the Royal School of Needlework, holding a Commendation from the Beryl Dean Award for Excellence in Teaching.

A member of the stitching team that worked on Catherine, the Princess of Wales’ wedding lace in 2011, Nicola also contributed to the Anointing Screen for the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023.

Overall Winner of the ‘Inspired by Morris’ competition launched by the William Morris Gallery in 2010, she staged her solo show at the same venue, entitled ‘The Art of Embroidery: Nicola Jarvis and May Morris’ in 2013. This popular exhibition was then funded by Arts Council England and travelled to Arts and Crafts properties around England for a further three years.

She has taught on the Lifelong Learning programme at the Ashmolean Museum since 2010, designing and delivering embroidery courses and staging exhibitions of her students’ stitched artworks at the museum (‘English Embroidery’ - 2017) and Bodelian Library (‘The Needles Art’ - 2020), in collaboration with historian Dr Lynn Hulse of Ornamental Embroidery.

The first volume of her much-loved embroidery project book ‘Life in Seasons - Winter/Spring’ was published by Inspirations Studios in January 2024, and the highly anticipated second volume of ‘Life in Seasons - Summer/Autumn’ was released in January 2026.

Nicola offers a range of embroidery kits under her Nicola Jarvis Studio brand, and has recently launched a hand-painted needlepoint collection for her new label - The Hand Paints
