RSN Embroidery Studio: Crewelwork Posy

£98.00

The RSN Embroidery Studio has produced a series of 15 kits - one for each of the 15 decades since the founding of the Royal School of Needlework. The kit designs are taken from our archives and have been developed in a range of techniques and levels for embroiderers to enjoy and learn.

In the 2000s the RSN developed their range of books Essential Stitch Guides, following the first book in the series released in the late 1990s. The RSN published its first book in the late 1800s.

The Essential Stitch Guides each covered a single technique and were intended to provide a starting point for new embroiderers and support them through that technique. These single-technique books are spiral bound to allow them to stay open flat at the page you are working from. The number of guides grew extensively over time, and are now available in a single, large format book The RSN Book of Embroidery.

The Crewelwork Posy design appears in the Essential Guide to Whitework and was inspired by a historic piece held in the RSN collection. We tweaked the design and worked it in DMC natural dyed crewel wools on a linen ground, demonstrating that good design can be adapted for a range of techniques.

Hand made by RSN Studio Hampton Court Palace, UK

Not suitable for young children, kit contains sharp needle and spall parts

The RSN Embroidery Studio has been at the heart of the Royal School of Needlework since it was founded in 1872. It is renowned for its exquisite hand embroidery for a range of clients including interior designers, fashion houses and private clients.
